Week of March 16th

Hola,

During this week we will be sending videos where we will be talking during our sections about our PYP and math topics. In PYP we will be digging on human resources, opportunity cost, choices and reviewing scarcity.  We will continue to work with math words problems that involve money. We will be working using worksheet per day and everything will be discussed during the video section. Please,  allow your kids complete as much as they can by theirself. If they have any questions please feel free to reach us by emal or using Mobymax mesenger.

Week of March 9th

Greetings, we had an excellent week celebrating “Reading across America”! During the week we inquired about producers and consumers. This week we will be inquiring on economic understanding. Students will discover that because of scarcity, people must make choices that result in opportunity costs. Students will identify some ways in which goods and services are allocated (such as: price, majority rule, contests, force, sharing, lottery, authority, first-come-first-served, and
personal characteristics).  Also, as you may know, second grade is excited to hold International Market Day on Wednesday, April 1st. Your child will participate in this wonderful, in-school Unit of Inquiry Project for second graders only to experience being producers and consumers in a market setting; learn the differences between goods and services; and gain social experience by interacting with others in a safe, respectful, and responsible manner. We sent the letter form on the agenda last Friday in case you dont have it, Click the link below International Market Day –

Please read the  form for more information, discuss Market Day with your child, and generate some ideas for booths. Please have your child fill out the form attached and return to school by Wednesday March 11th , 2020.

Also, this month is woman’s history month. We will be reading different passages regarding important women from Latin countries. In math we are working on addition word problem involving money. Students will identify key words and details.

Week of March 2nd.

Hello sweet parents,

This week we will start celebrating Read Across America!  In celebration, we will do many fun activities to encourage the love of reading! This Monday March 2,  all  K-5 students  are invited to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character or to wear pajamas in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday!

We send in the agenda a document with information about the Avant exam. Some have asked me: What is the test? How can we prepare for this test?

Avant STAMP- is computer-adaptive, meaning that the level of question difficulty that a student is presented with is based on the number of correct answers they have logged so far in the assessment. The testing engine automatically adapts to each student’s level-up or down-as the test progresses. Students will demonstrate their language level. So rest and a good breakfast are the best allies during the day of the test. 😉

This Week at glance:

PYP:Our inquiry this week will be focus on good and service.

Math: We will be working on Money  word problems.

Spelling: Spell words with prefixes in-, im-, des-, and re-.
Conventions: Identify and use pronouns in singular and plural.

Week of February 3rd

Welcome February!!!!  Students may bring Valentine cards to trade with their classmates. Please encourage your Kid to write them in Spanish 🙂

Week of January 21st

Hola familias, thank you all for taking time to ask about my family in Puerto Rico. All of them are fine at the moment. They are only frightened by the continuous little earthquakes that have not stopped since December 28 …

This week was exciting, we did different experiments about force and motions. Students visited different stations located in different classrooms to see how texture, size, and different attributes of objects affect their movement. We did experiments with catapults, pushing and pulling with different textures, throwing and pulling. The students learned about the forces involved when we are moving. (friction, gravity, acceleration and, speed)
During this week we continue to discover more about  force and motion. This week we will go hunting through the school to see how objects move. Students will identify what force they need to make to move an object (push or pull).
